Technical skills are only part of the equation. As organizations invest in data and AI capabilities, one gap continues to surface: decision literacy. It's not just about understanding the tools, it's about knowing how to apply them when the stakes are high and the answers aren't clear.
In this session, Data Society's Chief Learning Officer, Merav Yuravlivker, welcomes COL Paul Evangelista, Chief Data Officer at the United States Military Academy, for a conversation on what it really means to build data-fluent, mission-ready teams. Drawing from his experience in education, engineering, and operational leadership, Paul will share how decision-making, systems thinking, and AI literacy come together to support real-world performance.
We’ll explore:
Why upskilling must go beyond technical training
The critical link between data, AI, and judgment
Lessons from West Point on preparing leaders to act under pressure
How to design learning experiences that develop strategic thinking, not just skill proficiency
How to overcome implementation challenges
This session is for data and learning leaders navigating digital transformation and building the next generation of decision-makers.
